adjusting time
I have a user with a weird problem. He uses a laptop (Dell) and the time is always one hour fast. I have changed it and upon reboot it automatically changes back to the fast time. I changed the time in BIOS and it still reverts back to the fast time.
Anything I can do about this?

Hi,
You might try right-clicking on your clock in the lower right corner of your taskbar and select Adjust Date/Time. Make sure that you have the correct time zone selected and also make sure that the "Automatically Adjust Clock for Daylight Savings" is checked.
Hope this helps you out...Good Luck!

Ya know.... about a year ago I built about a half dozen computers that had the same problem.... but for the life of me I can't remember how I resolved the problem!!
every day the systems would be exactly 1 hour ahead. change them back and the next reboot.. again 1 hour ahead....
Gimme a few days to access my long term memory banks...

Have you checked the clock in the BIOS to see if it is correct? I have seen before (not for a long time) that changeing the clock in windows would not always change it in the BIOS.
Just my thoughts

Hey man , quick question.
Is this Laptop used on a network at all ?
If so then the time might be changed when you log on to the server. It is very possible that the Admin. has set the network to use the time off the server in order for everything to be consistent
Just a thought...

It is on the network, but the servers are the correct time.
Also, I changed it in the bios and it still happened.

You may not have one, but try putting the HDD in another laptop and see if the time is still off. Is the time exactly one hour off? Also, try completely powering down laptop and removing the battery, then power up laptop with AC only.

Hi,
Per Gotbyk, Have you tried disabling daylight savings?
If you're in an area where Daylight Savings Time does not effect you, that would add an extra hour. Does Isreal use Daylight Savings Time? Of course, all of that changes back to normal this weekend.
Just an idea...

Is it set to the same time zone as the servers? If not it could be adjusting for the time zone difference with the servers time zone. Also do the servers have daylight savings enabled? Does the laptop? Does your time zone?
