at shutdown error msg > DOS / 16m error:[13] cannot allocate transfer buffer
when I shut my pc(Win98SE) down I get the following error message:
"DOS / 16m error:[13] cannot allocate transfer buffer, press any key to continue."
When I strike any key on the keyboard the pc shuts off fine, does anyone know a fix for this?

Dos error 13, was, still is a disk full error, you usually get this a bit more obviously, but this sounds like a commit error. Some old 16 bit app not finnishing correctly. Try searching this site for shutdown errors. If you have a 66+ MHZ IDE controller microsoft have a fix, which just makes everything wait 2 seconds til it catches up. As usual though one fix won't cure all.

Maybe check that nothing is being loaded in CONFIG.SYS or AUTOEXEC.BAT? Like maybe a real mode CD-ROM driver that does caching, or even SMARTDRV...
