I am trying to install win95 from a cd-rom to my formatted hard drive, I can`t because when I do install.exe it says it can`t read the .cab files on the cd-rom disk. How can I get past this?
If you copy the entire win95 directory from the CDrom to your C: drive, you can run setup directly from C:\win95>setup. This way Windows will never ask you to insert your Windows 95 CDrom during subsequent hardware installations, etc. It automatically writes the source files location to the Windows registry as C:\win95.
Once you have Windows installed and running, go to the Microsoft website and download Windows 95 Powertoys. There is a very helpful .cab file viewer included.
