CD ROM DRIVERS
I HAVE IBM 486 THAT WAS REFORMATTED KNOW IM TRING TO INSTALL A CDROM BUT DO NOT HAVE DRIVER NOR CAN I FIND IT LISTED ANY WHERE.
THE MANUFACTURE IS TOP GLORY ELECTRONICS
52X MODEL BCD561B HOW CAN I INSTALL WITHOUT DRIVER OR WHAT CAN I DO. HELP!!!!! PLEASE <IMG SRC="smilies/frown.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/confused.gif" border="0">

Does the Cd-rom have an FCC ID # that you can see, any other numbers you can find will help. <IMG SRC="smilies/rolleyes.gif" border="0"> <IMG SRC="smilies/rolleyes.gif" border="0">

The windows 98 boot disk should pick it up. Try booting from that and see what happens.

Assuming you are trying to get it to run in DOS (since you posted in this forum), just grab one of the generic ATAPI compliant packages from the driver archives. Virtually any of them should work. If you have problems, see if someone will loan you (or use it if you have it) a Win98 emergency disk. Boot from it and select 'Boot with CD-ROM support' and watch which driver initializes the drive. Then just extract that driver from the erd.cab, and use it.
Remember DOS requires MSCDEX.EXE setup in the autoexec.bat as well.
