Resolved [RESOLVED] no local admin rights once connected to the domain

I had a user setup on NT Workstation 4.0 with administrator rights. When I connected to the domain this user no longer has workstation admin rights and it created a new profile for the user.

    Thanks for the help.

It is suppose to do this. Your user level depends on how you are logged in.

If you log into the domain controler you will only have the rights that are assigned under the DC's user settings. (ie: domain user). If you log into the workstation as administrator you will have full rights to the system.

One way to fix this is to give the user different permissions on the DC. If you don't have rights to change these permissions, you are stuck.

Use usermanager on the workstation (you have to be logged in as a local admin ) check the administrators group, add the domain user into the group if they aren't there.

adding the computer to the domain also adds \\<domain>\Domain Admins to the local admin group. you can logon the local machine as domain admin to add the domain user to his local admin group or you can do it remotely with something like Hyena or you can do it from the command line "net user".

Hyena is great for enterprise use..
