    Resolved [RESOLVED] NT4 RAS Problems

Changing from a Class C to a Class B on NT4, Ras has been giving me problems. You can dial in connect to the server by Netbui, but TCP/IP does not connect properly. Everything is fine locally you can access TCP/IP. The DHCP is doing it's job. It is only on RAS that there is a problem. It grabs an IP number but hangs when you try to get to the net. Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Question

You say that "You can dial in connect to the server by Netbui, but TCP/IP does not connect properly. Everything is fine locally you can access TCP/IP". It sounds like remote TCP/IP hasn't been configured. RAS can be configured with either NetBEUI,TCP/IP or IPX/SPX but the sys admin will have to configure your dial-in profile with whatever protocol you want to connect with. Also make sure that your subnet mask is correct. Changing from a class c to class b may change your subnet mask. The default subnet mask for a class C network is 255.255.255.0, a class B subnet mask would be 255.255.0.0
