"unknown error" installing updates
I have a Workstation that needs M$ security updates installed. I select the updates and installation occurs and then I get an "unknown error" and please select the back radio button to download and install again. What could it be? At first I thought it was because service pack 6 was not installed. I installed that and then tried again. Theory was blown. Then I disabled the antivirus. Theory blown again. What gives?

Possibly a permissions issue? Are you logged in with admin rights?

That's what I thought at first, then I looked through the M$ knowledge base. Surprise! The subject was there. I'm not at work today, so I can't say what it was. On Monday, I'll give all the details and report if the solution worked!

The issue may occur in either of the following scenerios..IE is corrupted or certain system files are not registered properly..Will find out soon if the resolution (repair of IE) will work. Lucky me..

Well, it didn't work, and this is getting quite annoying. Maybe I would have to install IE6 on this computer and see if that works..
