I love my job because I get to play with high tech toys that I otherwise would not. As sys admin I can force my draconian policies on my weak and pathetic (l)users bwuhahaha!
Actually, no. The "users" in my office are really cool and 90% of them are computer litterate.

I don't like my tech job, I LOVE it!!!
I agree with MacGyver about having the chance to play with the latest and fastest hardware.
There is a problem, though. My salary. It's too damn low!

Yep. I love the job. If I wasn't doing this for a living, I'd be spending all my free time doing it as a hobby.

I too love my job. Most users know what is going on. Once I started here I got into running the phones along with the computers. The phones can be a pain, but I enjoy doing it.

Hi,
I've been in the tech field in one way or another since 1975 when I joined the Navy as an Aviation Electronics Technician. That's where I really put electronics theory to work...I learned more as a bench tech in the Nav than anywhere else.
Anyway, Yes, I love being a tech. Now, if you're strictly talking PC's, I'm not a PC jockey. I work on the big mainframes, servers, printers, tape drives, disk drives, etc. for corporate contracts. Can't imagine myself doing anything else...except playing guitar in a long-haired rock-n-roll band.

I love what I do, or I wouldn't get out of bed in the morning. However, there are some other careers I may be interested in if I can just get my foot in the door, and I feel that my experience as an engineer may help:

[*]Coffee Taster

[*]Mountain Dew Quality Control

[*]Technical Writer

[*]Fiction Writer

[*]Public Relations

[*]Political Activist/Lobbyist

[*]Executive Assistant

[*]Lie Detector

[*]Privite Investigator

[/list]
This is just a partial list. If any of you out there know of any openings, let me know.
