I can't find any software on Warez. Everything always points to a porn site. Besides anything I have on my machine I own! The only advantage to anything like Warez is a try before you buy. I use Napster but I have bought anything I downloaded or deleted it.

I agree with Larommi. I played around on a bunch of Warez sites trying to get a copy of the Soldier of Fortune game. What a waste of time. I learned one of the downsides of having a really fast Internet connection...the cascading porn windows popped open "faster than a cat can lick its ***" (and, that's fast!). After I finally got every last pop-up window closed, I went out and dropped $35 for a copy of the store shelf...a lot less hassle...

i found 1 site once that had some really good stuff on it.... i should have remembered where it was at because I always get crap now..... If I want porn i know where to go to get it.... they are just a gateway to porn porn porn..... getting some cool new software is cool and all. but I dont think that it is worth all of the hassle
and runaround to get it.... just go and buy it..... you never know what you are downloading anymore anyway.....If i can not get it from www.download.com then i dont need it

The only thing I'd use warez for is to test software. Thing is, with the "demos" most companies offer (and just try getting a demo of an OS) you can't truly and fully try out a program, and see if it'll meet your needs or desires. I have downloaded warez, yeah....and those programs I liked, I went out and bought. Those that I didn't I deleted.

I know of a couple of decent warez sites, that have a good selection, and give you a minimal amount of porn to put up with. I used it primarily as a "try before you buy". If I find a decent warez game that I like, which is hacked all to hell and has no movies, speech or music, then I have no problem going out and dropping some cash for the real game. But if it sucks, then I just uninstall/delete it, and forget about it.

The only time I actually pirate video games is if it's something that all my friends are playing that I have virtually no interest in (Quake 3:TA for example) and I know that the craze will wear off in a month or 2, and then it's off my hard drive forever.

I'll admit it... I will download warez to try the program first. If I like the program I will go out and buy it. After all there are people trying to feed their family's off the creation of the programs. If I don't like it I just uninstall and delete the d/l.

Many many moons ago, I was heavy into warez (pronounced "where's" nor "war-ez"...would that make "gamez" "gam-ez" and filez "fil-ez"...comes from "softWARES")...back in the good ole Atari days. I had about 400 disks (at least) each with about 10 games on them. Man, I had games!
Now I own most of the games I have. Like most others, I just have ones that are hypes (like Diablo II, Soldier of Fortune). I prefer fantasy RPGs (not action games, but real thinkers), and most of 'em you need a manual to play the game. Those instant-gratification games get boring after a couple days.

Many people simply think that the warez scene is on the web only. Think AGAIN!!!! You people hassle through all the popup ads and such, and never know about the wonders of IRC! Yes, the preferred interface for downloading warez is mIRC. With the fast internet connection, you can get virtually ANYTHING you want, all you have to get is a decent network... chatmore.net, newnet.net, efnet.net... then find a decent channel. Its virtually a no brainer to type /list and get a list of 300+ warez channels, and a virtual buffet of downloads.

Not that i do that or anything....

Most of warez sites just suck!
You need to vote first, then ooops! new pop-ups.. hey, where is the original one??? Ah.. Here it is! Lets see.. Then you get a message that either the particular file does not exists, or new pop-up window saying you didn't vote correctly!

That's exactly the site I was talking about!

Besides that, I don't think it's a good idea to start posting warez links here!!!

    Wow.

February 2001 was the last post in this thread until eminem41269 came along.

Did you have to use a shovel to dig thisone back up? J/K

WinXP SP1 will have some anti-piracy features into it (I'm guessing those who hacked the registry to bypass the registration will have an unpleasant surptrise), but I'm guessing that this will not be a major problem for most users.
