Had a job Friday where the client couldn't get his email to send. The company that has their account for server related stuff told him he would have to reformat the HD and reinstall Windows and all his apps. I was called for a second opinion. Went over, refreshed his TCP/IP and the mail was working fine! He apparently called the other company and told them how stupid they were because a few hours later they called me to see what I had done to solve the problem! My point to them was "Yeah you should've known and now you want me to teach you how to do your job? Hahahaha!!! I've got a new client!

NO! You have to replace the wiring drivers to give a good voltage.... that one will come up soon. lol

Been reading the threads and this is really cracking me up *wiping the tears from my eyes*!

Had a relative tell me something is wrong with they're monitor (they think), but they know someone that knows a lot about computers and he says it's the HDD! BAAA HAAA! Whatever! Now tell me what would the HDD have to do with a monitor?! I myself thinks that it's the video card, but let the guy that knows about computers work on it HA! I need to see this one and what happens next!
Show me the money!!

Had a co-worker ask me about bad sectors and a device conflict while at work. I told him that I do side work but I try to avoid doing it for co-workers because it can make for bad office relations if things go south and it's kind of against company policy. He pleased with me a swore he would not tell a soul and if things went bad he would immediately take it to a shop to get it fixed. I gave him my rates and told him if he brought it in one day I would take it home and look at. If I could fix it I would have it back to him in a couple of days (HEY, it's a SIDE job).

Anyways, the clown goes home on his lunch hour and brings the box back with him, drops it on my desk and asks me if I had time to look at it right now. I was so scared because my boss was in her office right across from my cube. If she got wind of this I would be in a world of sh!t. I shoved the box under my desk and told him to call me at my desk tommorrow and I would let him know if I could fix it and how much.

One day when I finally figure out what that guy does for a living I am going to ask him to perform similar services for me personally in the middle of his workday.

Gotta love the lusers!

I have a twist to this topic. Have any of you ever been "My friend who knows about computers suggested..."? Well it happened to me Saturday. A really good friend & ex co-worker called me up asking me some generic computer questions. Best kind of RAM, good video card, good HD, 19" monitor, etc. I ask what's up and he tell's me his wife is quitting her job and going into business with 1 other in a home decorating/interior design venture and they want 2 computers. Well I'm honest with him and tell him that an Apple G4 733 for the design and graphics would be the best, but it's going to run him +$3,000.00. A loaded T-Bird 1.3 Gig for ~$1,500.00. A P4 ~$500 more. He acccepts this and will pass it on. I get a call from his wife today saying she was awfully upset with me and my bad advise ! She went to 2 places and there is no such thing as an Apple G4 with a T-Bird processor ! I ask her where she got that idea & she said her husband said that according to me they could get 2 Apple G4's for ½ the price with a T-Bird! I explained to her what I told told her hubby and she calmed down!
I would have loved to seen the faces of the people when she told them "My friend who knows about computers suggested..."

One of the stores she went to was Fry's so I'm surprised one of their knowledgable and curteous staff just didn't go in the back and cobble one up for her!
I only post using 100% recycled electrons!!!

Stay on the bomb run, boys. I'm going to get them doors open if it hair lips everybody on Bear Creek.
