Resolved [RESOLVED] bios password recovery for HP Pavilion n5210

I have a HP n5210 pavilion that has been setup with a bios password that prevents me from booting or entering CMOS. HP has the workaround and various Co's ask $250 to fix this. Surely someone knows the fix and I will gladly pay $50 to anyone who can solve this. Call me @ 615-867-6949 or email me at [email protected] if you have the answer.

The laptop motherboard does not have a removable battery, I cannot even locate the CMOS battery without a schemematic which I can't find either. No software will help because the bios password must be entered in order to proceed to boot from floppy or HDD/CD-ROM. The bios is Phoenix 4.0 ver 6.0.

Is it an award bios, if it is at password prompt, press and hold SHIFT key and type
AWARD_WS and press enter, it works about 50%
of the time with award bio's

Drivers and updates for your model are located below:

There is a BIOS update...might be something to check into.

You might also try one of the utilities from WinDrivers website here:

Thanks for help but boot from floppy being disabled prevents a software fix or bios update. HP techs know fix but it may be a different password for each model or even each serial number. Thanks for your attempted help....

    Try this utility:

    http://www.esiea.fr/public_html/Chri...l?cmospwd.html

Click on the Readme link...it looks like after you have downloaded the utility, you run it from DOS. Give it a try and let us know how it goes...

    Good Luck!
