Anyone get Compliments that go up high?

I got two e-mails sent to two different people higher up in the company I work for, one one Friday and one today. I was wondering, as the Big Head Syndrome started wearing off, how often do other techs get compliments for doing what we do?

And what your position is. Help desk tends to not get recognized as often as the Net Admins, just becuase their duties are not as high-profile (just as important, though)

I was called out to look at the CEO's laptop which had died a death, I managed to get it up and running long enough to move the data onto a loan laptop. It took me 3 hours from when she logged the call to get her up and running with a new laptop.

Not bad going I though

After a couple of weeks I received a e-mail from the CEO thanking me very much for fixing her laptop problem and how she didn't have any further problems after leaving the site. This person had only ever spoken to me once for about 5 minutes but she still had taken the time to write me a e-mail saying thanks. Sometimes you get a call were a users really appriciates the work you have carried out, Its users like this that makes me feel that this job is sometimes worth doing.

the supervisors are treating everyone with this friendlyness....the wierd thing is lately we started hiring alot of temps instead of fulltime workers....so maybe the end is comming soon.

I hear you on that, Absolute...my boss told me the same thing recently. Had a bad habit of wandering in around 10 or so (always made up the hours), and he kindly informed me that next time I need not bother coming in after nine. Not that I'd miss the job, but it does pay the bills...

Right with ya O -- I am hourly, and if I worked late 13 minutes one day, I got no compensation (15min increments) but if I was 1 minute late the SAME DAY, I got docked 15min and written up! What a crock!

I work for a major computer company through an outsourcer (can you guess by the signature which co?) Anyway, the guy that's in charge of all this co's outsourcers sent me a compliment and now has requested that I teach all the other techs how to do the job right. It's a great compliment, but stresses work relationships...

Hi All,

I work as a PC Support Officer for a local Council. Its a good place to work, but when it comes to paying market rate (MCP - 5 Exams - doing one more to be MCSE in a couple of weeks)and when buying equipment lowest price beats anything else.

I also get really sick and tired of my Boss not wanting to spend money, because he pays rates to the Council for a property he owns he thinks its his god damn money.

The Staff really appreciate my speedy response and friendly nature to them. which makes life a little more bareable.

I have the same problems a lot of you have. Stay a half an hour late every day and get nothing for it but you're 1 minute late!!!

My direct supervisor's an $%&@#* and my boss is really nice.

If you want praise, you have to tell your happy user who to write to. I once got a few things working that a lot of people who get paid 2 times my salary couldn't fix and it affected the whole company. I got a great letter noting that I was the best tech ever.

when i started working as a tech i did not mind the overtimes (daily) , when i found that i was offering much and i was getting the worst (payment) i changed.Changed the mood from understanding and kind to abrupt and cold(with poeople above me) ,but kept working hard and efficient.people get the best support and services and mention that to those that they pay,but it always depends on the person.

Wow, Qdoc. Seems to me that working overtime without getting paid is common in our country!
I was doing the same thing when I started too.

All these years, I got a few compliments, no matter how hard my job was.
