Post Saying goodbye to an old friend...

About two years ago I purchased my first car on my own--a 93 Cavalier Z-24. Not the best in the world, but she looked good and got me where I needed to go. She got a bit beat up while I had her--engine started running rough, had a close encounter with a highway sign, etc.
Well, this past Monday I saw that one of the dealerships near me was running a trade-in special, so I went up just to look around. I ended up buying a 94 Camaro Z-28 and using the Cavalier as part of the down payment.
Now, it seems kind of silly to me, but I find myself really missing that Cavalier. I like the Camaro and all, but there's something that just weird about not seeing my old car in the parking lot when I leave for work in the morning. Am I crazy? Or has anyone else become attached to a car like this?

I miss my Jag. I had an '86 XJS V-12, cruised at 95 easy - extremely comfortable, held you like your mother for long drives, handled like a dream and had a temper like a spoiled four year old girl. I miss my Jag.

I WILL NOT SELL MY 76 FORD RANCHERO, I put in to much money sweat and blood into that truck. I love it.

Do you leak any fluids, do you have any bumps on your rear, do you have any unpleasant odors?
If you answered yes to any of these then you are not qualified to own a new AMD ATHLON XP.
If someone ask you if you are running the all-new fastest AMD ATHLON XP, just turn around and reply "WHY YES, AND ITS CERTIFIED"

I have never actually owned a car, but I used my parents 86 Ford Taurus through college to get to and from home. It was kind of cool since it ran on propane and cost next to nothing to fuel it (at the time)

I tried to take good care of it, but it was a cruddy car to begin with. The transmission was always having big problems and it shook violently over 65 MPH. But no rust anywhere!

When I decided to move out to Ontario from BC, my parents offered it to me. But I wisely declined, it would have cost more to insure it than the car was actually worth. Not to mention parking. $4.75 per 1/2 hour in the downtown core.

But yeah, I miss the old junker. I had a lot of fun in that car.

Yes, I too miss some of my old cars. I had a '81 Mazda RX-7 during the latter half of college. It handled like a dream. Prior to that I had a 1965 Mustang. I loved pulling up to stop lights and watching the baby boomers look the car up and down as they took a ride down memory lane. When I got married and became more practical. Every since, I have had a '93 Chevy S-10 pickup.

I still miss my first car. It was a 75 Vega with body rust you wouldn't believe, but it could move. Of coarse the exhaust was shot so it rumbled, well, as much as a 4 banger can. I ran circles around a vette in town, of coarse that could have something to do with the way I drove. I miss my 82 Camero in a different way, I could feel every part of that car. I scared a lot of passengers going through tight spots, no scrapes though. And of coarse there was the fun of mudding in a Camero
I know enough to know that there is alot that I don't know.

My first car was a '63 Chevy II (Nova). I sold it to pay for my wife's engagement ring. Still wondering about the milage comparison...

So I drive an '89 Cherokee now. I love the thing, and will never part with it (intentionally). But I still got this "project car" bug. So get this. I jump up on e-bay and buy a '61 Corvair. It is all there, but needs tons of work. The wife about crapped her pants, seeing how I didn't tell her about it until I pulled up with it on a dolly. I learned in the Navy "It is better to beg forgiveness than beg permission"! Boy, did I do some begging! Kept the car, though...

I will probably go through withdrawal whenever I have to give up my truck ('96 Mazda B2300). I fully intend to drive it until it dies.

I felt the same way when I traded in my old '93 Caprice Classic for a '95. The '93 had 150,000 miles on it, while the '95 had 30,000 miles on it, and leather seats, a more powerful engine, better A/C, a digital dashboard, bigger mirrors, and a lot of other nice features, but I still felt bad about giving up my old car. I've since come to love the '95, but I still wonder sometimes if I shouldn't have kept the '93....

(Not to mention that fact that I couldn't save my bumperstickers)

I had a 69 fairlane 2 Door sport that was GORGEOUS.......and some dimwit rearended me while I was stopped making a lefthand turn with my turn signal ON. But his lack of driving ability put me in a 71 Mach1 Mustang I sold last year for $15,000.....after 25 years of ownership.

I went through 3 V-Dubs in HS. A 73 standard, 74 Super Beetle, and a 64 standard. I sure do miss those cars. Then I got an 89 Grand Prix for graduation, that had the biggest backseat !!! Bought my first new ride which was a 96 Mazda B2300 in Dec of 96, traded it a yr and a half later for a 96 Eclipse, then wrecked that about a year later and now have my beloved 95 Acura Integra GSR. I'll keep this one till the wheels fall off.

well, i think yer crazy, but actually sentimental. I don't miss my old car, but treasure the memories. I remember the transmission was messed up and i had to go in reverse for a couple of miles to get home. This was at night too . I don't miss my ibm xt either

OK, Ive owned one car and willl never part with it. It started as an 86 camaro for $1000, worth more like $500. I became a motor head and made it worth its full $3500 with my sweat and blood. It got a 4.5 out of 5 stars for restoration (note i was 15 at the time) I feel my car, know my car, I talk to it, and my car eats jet fuel. yes, from the rust bucket that has been through 12 accidents and totaled in 4 of them. It is now a finely tuned maschine. SickSleeper is her name and she is the captain of the SickSleeper racing team. Looks like a clean 86 6cyl camaro. idles like a 2001 model. has the guts of a corvette, and is badder than the mclaren F1. I will never part with my car, I love it. Even after the track accident at 90mph, 5 weeks and 8k later...we were the fastest again. My first car, my only car
