WIPE even wipes out linux or NT partitions!!! when a newbie mucks his machine up. There is another dos file i found to even work with SCSIs but i cant remember what it was.........hope this helps.

    I agree...although I carry a regular 98SE boot disk and ghost.

MicroScope is pretty good for quick diagnosing and LL formatting a drive.

OutLook is the best "PROGRAM" as the original question stated. It is incorporated into everything you use. It manages your life completly. Get a Palm and your need to drag a franklin planner around with you is null and void. How could you argue with that. Sure I have a ton of tech UTILITIES that have saved my *** at a clients place but as far as I'm concerned the best all around PROGRAM is definately MS Outlook 2000.

WOOHOO Outlook is probably one of the only really useful programs MS makes. And besides that...I rarely ever have a problem with it!

(As for Outlook express on the other hand...lets not go there.)

Ghost gets my vote for increasing productivity, but WinZip should get an honorable mention too!

As far as programs go, I like Winamp. As far as utillities go I have a custom made win95b boot disk with a cd-rom driver that never fails, msconfig, scanreg, xcopy, xcopy32, sys, fdisk, format, and a slew of other stuff I simply call the "Holy Disk". I also have a bootable CD I made that has every version of windows on it, Ghost, a ton of common drivers, and a load of stuff too long to mention.

Ghost and Part Magic hands down. It is also helpful to carry my W95 boot disk. I created with every dos command I could think of and has cdrom support.

Don't forget '/q' on that format. That way you don't have to watch the hard drive slowly formatting while you sit and think about all the stuff that you should have saved before formatting.

BTW - my vote also goes for Ghost and Gdisk. Fdisk is great, but Gdisk does a lot more and does it all from a command line without user interaction, if you want it to. It works great if you want to do partitioning from a batch file.
