restricting internet time
Hello, i have a 2 PC network in my house.(both XP Pro)my borthers PC connects to the internet through my shared dial-up connection over the LAN. When i am not home, i don't want him on the internet all day long because sometimes i would like my phone to not be busy. I have callwave internet answering machine for when i am home, but it is on my PC, so when he is online, he is on his PC and doesn't know anyone calls. Is there any way i can set a time limit so that 30 minutes after he dials up , it automatically drops teh connection? He has his own profile on my PC.

Not on his, I don't think, but you can set the modem properties to kill the connection if its idle for more than so many minutes... idle usually means not changing pages, when I was on dialup it was the first thing I turned off, drove me nuts if I was playing a flash game or just reading a page.
He will of course be able to dial again. If it gets too much, you could always kill the network connection....
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

i must not have explaind myself very well. i want him to be able to dial up, but i want to limit his internet time to 30 minutes per day. So when he dials up, the timer starts counting and after 30 minutes, it disconnects and wont let him dial up intil the next day.... i would just tell him to get off, if i was here, but i need it to do this while i am away.
