Angry interpretting blue screen errors (while installing NT 4.0)

I'm trying to install NT server 4.0 on an older machine, and I keep getting the same blue screen. I've pulled everything out of the board except 32MB ram and the video card. (BTW, the video card is a Trident 9685, and it failed the "Video Pages" portion of PCPro 6) I'm not sure what that could mean. Anyone know how to read the blue screen error??

Be sure you try different RAM too.

Welp, if it aint my old cow-worker

I'd swap the video first - what does the stop error (blue screen) say? Did you try MS KB?

Cycle the RAM HARD! with a memtester of somekind. The video card could be doing it. When does the error happen? Put another video card in a see what happens.

during setup are you trying to install network drivers? I have seen that before. Wait until you get into NT and can install at least SP3, and then install the NIC drivers. If that doesn't work, I have been able to get around that one many times by setting the hard to PIO mode 1 in BIOS until set up is completed, then take it back to auto. Hope this helps.

It blue screens right after I insert Setup Disk #3. The last thing it said at the bottom was: Loading device drivers (Windows NT File System (NTFS))

it seems that you have a problem with your mobo.

you might want to try to disable the cache and also you may want to try running setup from the cd instead from the disks.

It appears that it crashes when loading a driver for the devices on your system board.

If everything fails try with diff. mobo.

it may be when nt searches for storage devices - i have seen this before, when nt setup asks to either auto search or manually select go with manually select, select the atapi driver and unless you are using scsi drives that may solve your problem

did you try another video card.....knowing that it failed a test, i would try that first thing......you have not mentioned anything about trying another card.
