Post broken cpu retention tab - adhesives?

I did it, snapped it off clean trying to remove a stubborn heat sink.

I'm thinking about using some kind of adhesive to put the sink back on the chip. Anyone recommend anything that can be picked up at Zellers or a hardware store? I really would rather not have to order something from Supercom and wait for it to get here if at all possible...

I'd also appreciate warnings about any adhesives you have had BAD experiences with <IMG SRC="smilies/eek.gif" border="0">

Was it the tabs aligned with the centre line of the CPU socket that broke?, If so, look for a fan with the type of retention spring that goes over the tabs nearer the edge of the socket. I've had this problem before.

Just use silicon paste, if you cover the center of the CPU it WILL not go anywhere, I have had to pull very hard to get them off when silicon paste is on them.
