Boot up blue screen message
We have a WinNT4.0 SP6a puter that when it boots up and comes to the blue screen displays the following message:
Cannot open volume for direct access.
What does this mean? Is it causing a problem? Can it be corrected??
Thanks!!

Yes, the boot up does complete, and am able to log on, and use the computer fine. One day it "just" appeared when the user logged on. (I know I know, things just dont happen on their own)

Make sure all of the disk is setup as Fat or NTFS. This error could be due to the system kernel trying to access a drive or partition that is not initialized properly. I have also had similar errors when after i setup an NT system I tried to change the drive letters(boot Drive). When you do this the boot.ini file has to be edited manually or the system may not boot.
