Post Odd internet problem - need help.

I've been having these 2 problems that just kind of started randomly, but not at the same time(within a few days of eachother.) One of the problems, is when I'm in internet explorer, and I go to open something in a new window, it just opens up the bar...I have to click maximize, or all I see is the tiny title bar. Also, I have this problem where sometimes, I just stop sending/receiving information. I had the problem with my dial-up for a few days. Then, I switched to DSL, and the same thing happens. Basiccly, sometimes I'll open a page, and it will say done at the bottom...but it wont' say "cannot find server" or anything like that. It just says done..for 45 seconds or so, then after that, it loads the page like normal. I will note that I have updated internet explorer, and it does the same thing. Also, sometimes I'll go to open up ICQ...and it just kind of freezes, and I'm not sending/receiving information just like when I'm surfing the web...all goes back to normal in around 45 seconds, and all is well...but these delays are annoying, especially when I'm paying for DSL. I don't recall any changes I made to my network settings, but I would really like some input.

Thanks

Do a major clean up of your system from .tmp files to programs not being used.
after that if you still have the problem lose Icq for a day or so and see if that helps.
Icq had done many wierd things to my PC that why I don't use it anymore.
I hope that someday we will be able to put away our fears and prejudices and just laugh at people.

Cool

I have seen this before and there are a number of fixes for it, however not knowing which OS and which ver of IE and ICQ that you are runing I cant elaborate. Did you install or remove any programs just before this started? Give me a little info and I and others might be able to help you

If you resize the window, not just maxamize it, then close it, the next time you open the browser it should still be what you resized it to. It will use the settings of the last window you close.
I know enough to know that there is alot that I don't know.

Go into internet explorer settings. Under general tab delete all temporary files also check the box for all offline content. Then under settings lower the temporary internet files folder to the lowest setting. You'll not really need to use it if you have DSL. It's only full of gif's, banners etc. It take up a lot of space that's really to benfit slow connections.

This is a top tip BTW for cleaning up windows 2000 profiles.
And Control Enter STILL wont let me post a reply.
