Arrow XP and the inevitable......

Just curious , I signed up for the release (2 Monthes ago)beta from M$ and they asked for my credit card info wich I gave (DUMB DUMB).I thought the next step would be a download page or something, but no.The page said that they would e-mail me when is was ready and available.
My point is has any one else fell into this.....thing? .If so does any one know the fast way to get the beta....?

I did the same.

I'm sure Microsoft will pay up, first of all to avoid a class-action lawsuit or something, secondly to get their product tested by more than the elite few!

But I don't imagine I'll be too impressed with Windows Xtra Payments...

What you signed up for was the Windows XP Preview Program, not for beta. By paying the $20 or $30, you ordered RC1 and RC2 (Release Candidates). If I remember correctly, RC1 should be available this month, and RC2 should be available about 6 weeks after that.

More info here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/preview/order.asp

Ireceived rc2 about a week ago. Just finished loading all 2 gigs of it. Been playing with it for about 3 hrs. It is loaded on my 9 drive beast and much to my amazement it loaded without a hitch. Everything was IDd and installed. Did not need to install any driver or edit any settings. It is now running the network and the satellite internet. And not to fear the beast or Lizard as it is known is a multi boot machine so if anything goes wrong with XP we just reboot the Lizard with 98SE. I like the look and feel of it so far but will probably be cussing it shortly. and yes I paid the $20.00 and it took about 6 weeks.

I haven't even received RC1 yet. I figure if the RC's came out, it woulda made the Front page of WinDrivers, or at least had a mention somewhere on the XP website.

BTW, here's the info from MS website:
In June*: Windows XP Professional Release Candidate 1** (available by download or, for an additional $10, on CD).
In July*: Windows XP Professional Release Candidate 2** (available by download only).
In June*: Access to a members-only newsgroup, which will be available for the duration of the program.

I also signed up for it over 2 months ago so you must only have beta 2
not rc2
as there are always mentions as to what version is in testing at any given time.
and the only versons i have seen are the betas

I heard from a very reliable source that the dates are pretty close to this:
RC1 June 27
RC2 July 25
RTM August 15
So now you know...

Only when it is an officially released retail product.

If you were one of the first 20,000 who ordered the XP preview, then, as a BONUS, you were mailed a copy of beta 2. If you were not one of the first 20,000 then you will be notified when and where to download RC1, unless you paid the extra $10 to receive a cd. Relax, I'm sure you will hear from Microsoft in a couple weeks.
