take a look at this link . it will have the info you are looking for.
I think the problem is either an ID10T or PEBCAK error

This is what your motherboard supports:

"The P4B533-V supports all socket 478 P4 processors including Willamette and Northwood up to 2.4GHz+. The 533MHz FSB increases bandwidth and improves overall system performance"

"Supports IntelŪ PentiumŪ 4 socket 478 processors
    Intel 845G and ICH4 chipset
3 x DIMMS slots for up to 2GB of PC2100/PC1600 DDR SDRAM support
    1 x AGP 4X (1.5V only)
    2 x UltraDMA/100/66/33
    6 x USB 2.0 ports
    6 PCI slots
    C-Media CMI-8738 MX 6-channel audio (optional)
    IntelŪ 82562ET PHY (optional)
    ATX form factor"
I think the problem is either an ID10T or PEBCAK error

    Todo,
thank you very much for your help!
I have build a few systems Socket 7 and slot I.
Since that I did not have any contact with tech. part of computers. Now I want to learn about Rambus and DDR memory. I am trying to figure out how it works with sitting switches and multipliers on mobo! Did you build any systems with Rambus or DDR memory. How did you figure out
how to put multipliers. I remember with my old AMD K6/2 350 bus speed was 100 so I have to set multipler 3.5 and memory was PC100 Dimm! It was easy. But now with all those Numbers is confusing!

Cap, most motherboards that are socket-478 will autodetect the cpu's clock multiplier, voltages and FSB settinfgs for you. You may get to alter the FSB a little in the bios (for those who like to overclock), but most of the guesswork is taken out for you.

    Read the manual.
    Why bother with the A+?

Would you honestly feel comfortable handing your $1500 computer to someone who FAILED the A+ exam?

Most boards are plug an play, set the multiplier in the bios now ( I prefer to set the dip switches on my Asus boards )
The best source of info for your board is the manual or web manual if your fixing a system, I ran into an error in the manual with the Asus cuv 266

All your memory is auto detected when you power up, You don't have to really worry about the newer fsb speeds when building, Yur only concern is from a performance standpoint
I have not built an Athlon system yet, I have worked on an older Athlon 600 and I was impressed with the speed
I know I could build one since a lot of the parts are plug and play, read the manual , I still prefer to flip the dip switches and disable the jumper free mode
I consult the manual for this
You should have no problem building a newer system for your self, thenyou can play he latest games [Wink]
    Format c I'm givin er all she's got cap'in !!! )

Like Format c: mentioned, most are plug and play versions now, but you may need to flash the bioses to support newer cpu's in some models.

Dip switches are fading. Not too many mb manufacturers are continuing to use that except for ones like asus, gigabyte, and a couple of others.
