Tech to User Ratio?
I was wondering what the average ratio is for Tech vs user. At my place there are around 70 users and I am the only tech. How about you?

Our IT department has 4 people. Management and every thing. So out of the four there are two of use that take care of about 130 machines and about 150+ people. About the ame as you have. And yeah it is rough sometimes.

I am the only tech at a high school with 930+ students and 70+ teachers. We have about 350 systems. So I stay very busy.

Wow, I thought no one else was in the same boat as I am. I have 712 students and almost 100 teachers/administrators/staff using 326 machines hooked up to 7 NT 4 (soon to be 2000) servers.
Keeps me hoppin'

Im not sure how to calculate the ratio since Im not corporate,. but I am the only tech, and its gets hairy at times,. specially Thu & Fri's since everyone wants it done by the weekend. I have an average of about 3-5 machines in the shop at all times.
(I know im a small service,. but it pays the bills )

Hi All,
I am the only full time tech, my manager pitches in when it gets busy. 150PCs, 6 Servers, and 7 Offices.
I have read that Unisys recommends about 70 PCs per Tech.

How can you possibly be responsible for 30,000 machines? Even if you spent a half a second working on each one, it would take you 4 hours to look at them all. Bump that up to say 10 minutes to actually work on them and that gives you 5000 hours to make it all the way around.
That's 3 quarters of a year.......

Geez, sounds like a small country. I have 20 users across 2 offices and then the 1600 customers that we have.

120K? What company could possibly have 120K machines? But beyond that point, only 4 techs??

2 techs. 1 of us knows what he is doing (but we're not sure which one.) Who knows how many customers, if I add up all the in-shop repairs this year (over 1200) and new builds (about 800) with the on-sites (500, just a guess) I would get a ludicrous number... so I guess my answer is "I dunno"
