Angry modem and ethernet card conflicts

ok, mitac laptop running Win98, D-Link de-660 series ethernet card and Aus-Link 56k modem card. modem worked fine by it's self before adding the ethernet card, added the ethernet card and configured runs great especially on a 1Mb LAN. now the modem card still exists in the system with no conflicts, can dial out and connect to our ISP no worries, but hangs and will not load any pages on the net, any idears or will there always be a conflict with the two cards?
    thanks for any sugestions

In General this is a Problem with IE5.
The Browser Tries to get Internet Pages through the Ethernet Card, Not through the Modem.
What you have to do in order to fix it up is to Reconfigure the Connection of IE (I dono Netscape...) to not to use LAN for connection.
Goto Internet Option=> Connections and see what i mean.

What i do in sittuation like this is to Create to Seperate Hardware Profiles - One with Modem And Other With Lan. So i don't have this Problem or any other.

    I hope i helped you.

also Try to disable "Automatic Configuration".
If you look downside in ie (Status Bar) you can see "etecting Proxy/Network bla bla bla".

    Good Luck

Check your TCP/IP settings. You may have set the internet IP number with the networkcard, instead of with the external adapter. check that and change it if necessary.
