Mysterious Restarting
Can anyone help me with my PC. It seems to restart on it's own, randomly, even when I'm working on something!!!! Thanks in advance!!!!

I agree, CPU is a prime possibility. I also saw this happen to someone once whose hard drive was going. I would back up important stuff soon, just in case.

I had the same problem.. thought it was the PS.. replaced to no avail. Even replaced the CPU. Nothing. The only other thing to replace is the MB. Does this problem happen to be in Win2K?? Only happens there.. not in 98 or ME.
Check the RAM too...

No it's in Windows 98. Oddly the room air conditioned for 67 degrees. I like it cold. I really don't know what's going on but can it a software thing??

Yeah,especially if it's virus software
Seriously saying, there are a lot of things, what could cause random lockups.
I'd suspect also RAM as addition to all mentioned above.

Perhaps telling us your system specs might help - also include the how many watts your power supply is please.

Also check for proper CPU fan rotation. It may be rotating too slow or not at all. That is the most common cause of spontaneous reboot.

best way is to remove everything except mem vid and hdd. Disconnect even the floppy.
See if it still does it. Mine turned out to be a floppy that kept shorting out and rebooting my machine.
I was here, here I was, was I here? I hope I was....
