"Paradise.jpg" taken from Win2K and Me installation.
It's nice and keeps reminding me the view out of my window, when I'll become rich and famous!

In all reality, how much memory can a jpg take (serious question)? Unlesss you only have 32MB of RAM I don't think you have to worry about. Since I have 256MB of RAM I like to have all kinds of diff. stuff on the screen. Usually get them from www.visualparadox.com

I suppose wallpaper if in bmp format could take up 1MB, however when you combine that with fancy animations, background applications, animations, stuff on the task bar, etc... it all adds up.
Aside from a computer business we have a digital video editing business and on those systems the hardware and software manufacturers recommend even eliminating the clock on the task bar. Most of these systems run at 94-97% free system resources.
My wifes system on the other hand is loaded with all kinds of freaky disney stuff

To keep others from using my pc at work I took a snapshot of my desktop. Then I placed it as the wall paper and moved the regular working icons spuratically around the screen, so only I know which ones work and which ones dont.
So far its surved its purpose well...

I typically don't turn on my PC, because it consumes too much resources. I like to keep it at 100%.

At work the 98 boot has a picture of a lovely brunette with butterfly wings and a nice dress on with a valley picture in the background of her, the linux boot has 4 desktops that rotate fantasy pictures.
At home I have the same picture on my 98 machine as at work and my linux machine also rotates pictures.

I use the "gazebo" from www.digitalblasphemy.com
I did punch it up in Adobe Photoshop.
Blue is what computer screens do best.
It may not still be available, but they have great stuff.
