I also don't like any programm running in

of computer resources, but nevertheless...
But, of course, I allow my daughter on her Siemens(Pentium comp) put on desktop any picture she like.

At work, I use our company's logo on a deep blue background. At home, just the basic Windows Clouds. The icons seem to show up best against the Clouds.

I have a JPEG pic of my wife and kids on my work cpu....it's just a P5/233MMX w/ 128MB RAM and it still has 97% resources free upon boot.....so I don't really think a wallpaper pic hogs resources!

After a particularly rough day at work on a machine with one of those 15 minute problems that takes 4 hours to fix, I changed my non-existant wallpaper to one of the scenes posted on windrivers.com. It is the one with all the smashed computer parts in the driveway. I love it. I tell everyone it's what I'm going to do to that machine!

My co-worker has one of the "Coyote Ugly" girls on his desktop for wallpaper, and my boss has a picture os a Plymouth Prowler (off the net) with on of or supervisors (she posed for the picture) and Gazoo from the Flintstones all edited together in Adobe Photoshop. Its a really great picture!! He liked it so much he hasn't changed it for like 5 months!!

At work I change it every other day, Just abot anything is fare game, but, usualy its a cool pic of someone breaking or blowing up a pc. At home, my Fiance has control. She lets me play my games on MY computer, but she gets "napster time" on it and she gets control of the background. Thankfuly she is an artsy person and usualy the pictures are by Nagal or Olivia and if you know those artist, you know I get to look at paintings of some pretty beautiful NAKED women

I just use the good ole black screen myself. Occasionally I'll have a wallpaper up for a few days.
