    Red face fdisk and format on hard drive problems

    i recently got a 12 gig hard drive for free and i already installed it and as i was running my boot disk and i type fdisk.exe it says "no fixed disks present" so i type fdisk c:\ and it says "parameter format not correct c:\" so im stuck there i really need to fdisk this hard drive to start from scratch because i need to install win 98, and i have tried installing it but to no avail. thank you if you can help me

    It sounds like the drive isn't installed correct or the bios doesn't support that large of a drive. You might have to get software like MaxBlast or EZDrive if that is the case.

    Most manufacturers have diagnostic and setup utilities for their drives. Go to their website and see if that helps. If you repost please give more info on HHD & Mainboard

    ummm hate to repeat myself time after time....

    but "more info please" !!!!!?????
    (hardware, mobo? hdd? OS??, etc!!!!)

    i have a car, it won't start.. i am using gas....

    I am not picking on necropolis22! this was his first post!

    this is for everyone: give us a hint here please!!!! We will help where we can but ESP is a 1-900 game....

    To use fdisk you don't use a drive letter just type fdisk and then select the drive from within the program like you did the first time.

    Did the BIOS acknowledge this drive?
    Are the power and data cables properly plugged in?
