[RESOLVED] IE 5.5 Full Download
I'm probably not looking in the right places or something (cursed hangover!), but does anybody know where you can download a full version of IE 5.5?
I know with IE 5, I went to oem.microsoft.com and downloaded a full version (about 60MB). Made it nice to burn on a cd and not have to wait onsite while windows update downloaded IE5 !!!!

Try this link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/download/ie55.htm . Choose "Run from this location", and when to get to choose, pick "Install Minimal". Click the "Advanced" tab and select "Download only". The DL is something like 29MB (I think).
Or get the latest issue of Maximum PC, their CD always has the latest IE and Communicator (or whatever Netscape is calling its browser these days), plus a ton o' other goodies. Beats a long download.

If it were me, I would stay clear of IE 5.5. It has been a nightmare for lots of people, including myself.
I ended up uninstalling it and going back to IE 5.01 at home and at work.
5.5 is a resource hog and is loaded with bugs that will cause a lot of systems to run terribly and crash very frequently.

I've heard the same about IE 5.5...
My IE 5.0 works just fine, thank you.
Anyway, good luck in finding what you're looking for.

I've been running IE 5.5 for months and haven't had even a single problem yet.

You might want to check this post out before you try 5.5 .....http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum/Forum11/HTML/001937.html....
I haven't tried it yet , but I am inclined to believe it offers little that I want or need...yet....wait for the patches...

Actually, I have no desire to run IE 5.5, I just wanted a full download to burn on a cd, because we get those customers who think they have to buy every new version or patch for every program. You know the ones who are running Windows ME, IE 5.5, ICQ 2000 and all that just so they have the latest!

We have about 100 of our 450 workstations running IE 5.5 under NT 4.0, some on SP4, some 6a. No problems. One of our guys took the time to download the IE 5.5 Administration Kit. Did a nice job of integrating our Company Logo to replace the "Spinning Globe", incorporating Desktop Wallpaper featuring our Company Logo & most importantly, configuring it for our Proxy Server for any user that logs in.

You're right, but 3fingersalute asks about version 5.5.
Office contains version 5.0.
