    Lightbulb Installed slave hard drive, now no memory test

    I installed a slave disk in my computer successfully. Then after restarting the computer stops before it gets to test extended memory. HELP I AM LOST!!!

    Are you sure the jumper on the hard drive is in the correct position?
    What other IDE drives are you using.
    Seems you have a conflict with your IDE devices.
    An obstacle is something you see when you take your eyes off your goal.

    Try changing the hard drive to the secondary channel of the motherboard, if available.

    If not available, obtain a sound card with cd-rom controller onboard and move cd-rom to the sound card, and re-configure the hard drives for master/slave.

    Make absolutely certain that the hard drive you just added is set to slave or it wont work. There should be a jumper configuration sticker on the hard drive itself, or it will be printed on the controller card near the jumpers.

    That is where most drives are marked, but some drives dont even have a configuration marked on it.
