socket 7 is an older architecture still surviving thanks to amd because intel no longer uses it for their processors.
Socket 7's used the classic intel pentium 75-200, 166mmx-233mmx, amd's k6 166-233 processors, and even cyrix's junkie processors.
Amd now uses the socket 7 (aka super socket 7) boards for their K6-2 and K6-3 processors.
AMD will continue with the socket 7's for now until they gain ground with their k7 (athalon) proc. which use a SLOT A architecture.
Socket 370 is used by intel for their Celeron processors and nothing else. They still use SLOT 1 sockets for their PII, PIII and their older cacheless Slot 1 celerons. But you can use a SLOCKET adaper for those 370 celerons (a socket 370 adapter designed to fit in a SLOT 1 socket). Hope that answers your question.
