Exclamation This thing is halfway out my window, please read:

Ok, heres my setup:

MSI KT266a Pro2-RU mobo with latest bios
Audigy Platinum IDE
Windows XP
Pioneer 16x DVD Secpndary Master IDE
QUE 2400BPS CDRW (24x10x) Primary Master IDE
LiteON 40x10x48 Alternate Primary Master IDE
Visiontek Gf3Ti500 AGP
Pinnacle TvStudio Pro PCI
2x256 KingMax PC3000 DDR
2xIntel 1000T Gigabit Ethernet PCI
2xMaxtor7200rpm 60gb on an onboard Promise Lt Raid
Logitech Z-560 4.1's
Intellimouse Explorer
Internet Keyboard Pro

I have adequate cooling and its all powered by an Enermax 431W power supply.

Heres what Im finding with the latest drivers installed for each peripherial:

My sound pops and crackles when I move files around on my RAID drives.

My LiteON (when Installed) drops clear out of my system while in use and leaves errors in the event log such as device appeared/dissapeared without warning.

My Que drive however, works great, no errors at all.

My Pioneer DVD has just begun giving me similar errors but relating to bad blocks and paging opperations.

Memory tests fine, as does the 1800XP i have not overclocked.
My bus is set correctly and not tweaked for overclocking.

I am very frustrated now because I am trying to install an MSDN cd from january and it locks up 'My Computer' and when I exit the installer it creates pops and scratches through my speakers.

What can I try here?
Please help!!!

have you tried using the computer with out the sound card? you may want to alimitate devices until You find the problem child device. also you may want to try a different power supply.

sorry i am not much help. but the only thing I can think of is to try the card in a different pci slot. and also to try the onboard sound card if you have it on the mainboard to see if you still get the noises.

I ran accross something simmular when I upgraded my mainboard and I had to replace the sound card.

Have you been to www.viaarena.com and checked out their faqs and patches and downloaded the latest via 4 in 1 drivers?
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."
