CD-drive disappeared
I have a Dell computer w/ a CD-RW and, after finally "updating" my computer w/ Windows "updates," my CD-drive has disappeared. I opened her up and all is plugged in fine. I don't mean nobody no harm; I just want to at least read my CDs. Please, oh please help meh.

Welcome to Windriver proteused
Right click my computer, select properties, click on the hardware tab and open device manager.
Does your cd drive show up in there? What make and model is it?
If it does, is there an error message on the properties for it? If there is, what is it and what is the error code?
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."

CD-Drive found again
Thanks, NooNoo - I ended up going to the Device Manager,
selecting IDE/ATA, uninstalling Secondary & doing a search for new hardware which automatically reinstalled it. Then it worked. Can't wait to get a Mac. ;-)

Macs appear to have less problems, but when they do, they cost a whole lot more to put right.
