Anyone have suggestions why this system would be slow come back off screensaver, sleep mode or anything like. Below are the system specs. This started happening after installing new hd and ghosting over from old drive.
Pentium 200MMX
AOpen AP57 Motherboard
64mb edo ram
WD 7200rpm drive 20gb
4mb S3 videocard

Two things to try:
Restart in Safe mode and go to Device Mgr. remove any drivers that are not pertinant to your machine.
Also, reset your virtual memory settings to 512MB min. AND max. If you let virtual memory mgr use the entire unused space on a large drive it will slow it down, not to mention the fact that it's a major contributing factor for fragmentation of your drive.
You may also want to run Disk Defragmentor on the drive, as a fragmented file system will also slow you down.

And try turning off the power saving feature that spins the harddrive down after x minutes.

If you are using a add-on screen saver it may be very cpu intensive like the open gl onees installed bye If so change to something simple like flying through space and see if it speeds up. These big screen savers will kill cpu and memory will get used up . X
