Resolved [RESOLVED] Need to recover data from HD

Hello i have a customer who accidently deleted some files on his AST laptop and he wants to recover them. I need the name of a good recovery program, and perhaps somewhere where i can find it?

I have used Mcaffee Nuts&Bolts for this a few times. As long as the files haven't been physically overwritten on the disk, then you should have a pretty good chance for recovery. I would recommend not using the machine in the mean time and definetly don't defrag the hard drive or it won't be recoverable any more. BTW, i doubt this is worth mentioning, but did u check the recycle bin?

Ontrack makes ezrecovery. works like a charm. do not install it on the disk to recover from. you can install the prog on your own puter, and make a bootable recovery gui booted to its own o/s. the trial version is free, and will let you see all the recoverable files, but will only let you recover 5 of them. if ya want em all, you gotta buy the full version. good luck!

I once used Norton Diskdoctor Under dos and it helped me a lot
But in this days where you have LFN, FAT32, NTFS i don't use it any more.

Ontrack data recovery software. If it doesn't work chances are you're not going to recover it with anything. It can be set to ignore the FAT and just scan for files so if you have a future need for recovering Quantum Bigfoot drives it's a worthy investment. Pricey but worth it for what you can charge the customer.
