[RESOLVED] IOS
I just upgraded a win95 system to an FIC VA-503+; AMD K62-450; 128mb PC-100 SDRAM; Creative Banshee 16MB AGP and now all I get out of it is "While initializing device IOS: Windows protection error. You need to restart your computer." I have gotten this message before but cannot remember what fixed it. BTW: I also get this while trying to go into safe mode... only thing that will work is Command Prompt

This error is usually caused by an uncompatible or corrupt driver. Re-installing Win95 over itself usually corrects this.

I was getting that error when I was trying to overclock my K6-2 450 to 500. Until I bumped the voltage up.
Make sure your core voltage as set at 2.4v and not 2.2v.

you don't need to reload windows, you need to go to the AMD site hit their support section and they have a link to download the patch that needs to be installed on all k6-2 350 and faster chips running with win95 osr2 or better. the patch corrects a timing loop that will cause the IOS error message..
