    Post ATA 100 Ultra 66!

    I'm pretty sure that I just over loaded my power supply with the 4 extra HD's I hooked up on my Ultra 66 PCI Card.

    Is it possible to run an extra power supply for just the components on the ultra 66 card?

    but generally it would be better to just get a higher rated power supply.

    Thanks Platypus.

    The info you provided is for ATX, I guess I showd have mentioned mine is AT. LOL

    Is there any information about the AT power supplys like what you gave me for the ATX?

    I just found this site that I think will help anyone else with info of this nature.

    It could be done exactly the same way, or if the main AT p/s has a switched IEC mains outlet for a monitor, as most do, just run a male-to-female monitor power lead to the mains input of the second AT supply and leave it (the second supply) switched on all the time. A monitor could still be run from the outlet on the second supply and it would all be switched by the original case switch. The leads should carry the earthing correctly, but for maximum safety, etc, have the casing of the second p/s secured to the metal system case.
