Asus A7A266 + SB LIve 5.1 HELP MEEEEEE !!!!!!
I've a big problem of stability with my SB live! 5.1. This sound card sometimes don't work well. Sometimes it's all ok, with plays, windows sound, etc. etc., another times it's completely mute. Another times it's make a big noise in the speakers !
My Pc configuration is:
Motherboard: Asus A7a266 SKA
Cpu: AMD K7 Athlon 1200 Ghz
Multimedia: Creative Live 5.1
Video card: Hercules 3D Prophet 64 Mb GeForce 2 MX
Ram: 256 Mb Pc266 DDR
Speaker: Philips Speaker
There is a patch for this problem ?
I hope there is a solution for this problem... Thanks

Are you certain the card isn't bad? And check the device manager for IRQ sharing with the LPT port. Disable LPT sharing if possibe.

Get the latest BIOS flash for your board and the latest 4-in 1 drivers as well............

Are you refering to Via 4in1 drivers???
If you are, then sorry to correct you, but the Asus A7A 266 uses that problematic Ali-Magik-1 Chipset.
Here's the link to get the appropriate drivers for the m1647 northbridge chip and the m1535+ southbridge chipset.

first thing to consider is Disabling ACPI.
search for this setting in your BIOS and disable it..
It's good that you included the specs for your computer but I'm missing two critical ones..
1. Is you PSU AMD approved for the AMD 1.2GHz ?
2. What O/S are you using ?
