Does Anyone know a converter that will burn an avi, divx or mov file to a normal cd-r so that it is playable on a standalone DVD?

There are also other programs like LSX, XING, Virtual Dub, TMPGEnc, etc.
Some of these are for audio

Go check out vcdhelper.com. You're going to have to play with it a little and will probably have to encode it to a vcd compliant mpeg1. It takes a while but it's worth it in the end.
