There is a chat program on the win95b disk for sure and maybe on win 98 that works over a lan. Its somewhere in a subdirectory. Sorry I cant be more specific, just try searching the cd for chat. It's basic but its free and easy to use.

We use ICQ Groupware Server for our internal chat and it performs without a flaw. Supports up to 200 users I beleive.
