I have this problem, and was not sure which board is most appropriate. Ergo, I put it in here..
Here goes: I have a network based printer (HP2200dn) with 8 people printing to it. I recently purchased a second tray (500 paper feeder) for the printer becuase the developer of the software this dept uses, says he can program the software to send different print jobs to a specific tray depending on what needs to be printed (ie. labels from tray 2 or paper from tray 3).
Guess what - he can't do it. What he intended to do, was create 2 printers on each computer one printing from tray 2 and one printing from tray 3. Labels would automatically go to the "printer" on using tray 2 and paper would automatically go the "printer" using tray 3.
On a Windows98 computer I can install the same printer twice using different names and different configs. ON the Windows2000 computers in the dept I cannot. I am not given the option of installing it with a different name - it recognizes that I already have the specific printer installed and doesn't install the second (more accurately, I think it overwrites the first with the second..).
Briefly, is there a way to install 2 copies of the same network printer in Windows 2000 with different configurations?
Thanks
Rafi
