brain fart
ok today is friday and my head isnt realy workin right but here is my problem
windows 2000
cd-rom in device manager has one of them lovely yellow excamation points
and it will not go away
open my computer and it is not there, it will not play audio or data.
thing i have done:
replaced drive
updated drivers
uninstaled reinstaled
updated drivers on ide controler
uninstalled reinstalled
did these in safe mode also
switched ide controler so that my hdd is master and cd-rom is slave
checked bios all ok in there it sees both hdd and cd-rom
checked my config.sys, everything looks good there same in autoexec.bat
if ya have any suggestions or if ya think i missed something let me know thanks

Try going into computer management/removable storage/physical location/cd-rom/drives properties of the drive and check the box enable drive. There might be the option on the menu when you right click the drive in the right window to mount drive.

The only other thing I can think of is to make sure plug and play has been started in
component services/ local services.
