    Got a problem.

Bought MYST 3, cannot get it to run.

Installs OK, but when you start the game, the vary first splash screen comes up, and then the entire system locks up. Anyone else bought this yet? Any problems? Solutions?

    Thanks...

I just found that 5 minutes before you posted the link-- the tech forums were not linked from themain page until today--

turns out it is my stupoid kenwood drive-- the thing wont read the copy protection... so it locks up-

going to have to put an older drive in just to play the game....

    UPDATE--

Had my brother go and change the Kenwood 72x drive for an OLD 6x drive-- the game works fine...

Apparantly it is the copy protection on the MYST3 cd-- Kenwood drive locks up trying to read it.

    Thanks for the help....

The drive is great-- i love it- dont want to use anything else.
HOWEVER--- this drive does not work with at least 3 games that i am aware of... ( at least on my computer)

    1. Sims- House party expansion
    2. Black & White
    3. MYST 3 Exile

All 3 games-- they install fine, when you try to run the game- it searches the cd as it starts, and then freezes (cannot even ctrl-alt-del). We were able to get black & white to work by using a "no-cd crack" (really sucks to have to resort to that on a game you BOUGHT!) But after switching the drive to an older drive (i just happend to have a 6x lying around-- all three gmaes work fine WITH the cd.

the comon denominator is a newer form of copy protection that is buiolt into these games- kenwood trux does not appear able to read it.

You may want to PM or get ahold of Captain Packrat. He was having the same problems with House Party and Black & White, and, if he got them to work, may have a solution to share.
