Problems with House Party and Black & White
Both games are published by EA, and both are fairly recent.
I had no problem at all running the Sims or the Livin' Large expansion pack on my system. Then I installed the House Party expansion. Now, when I try to start it, I get the splash screen, the CD spins up, then the splash screen disappears. Then nothing. No error message, no beep, no lockups, no frozen applications, no memory leak, nothing. I check the task manager, nothing. The program appears to have exited on its own. I uninstalled House Party and reinstalled the Sims, and it works fine. Reinstalled Livin' Large, works fine. Reinstalled House Party, no dice.
The exact same thing is happening with Black & White. Splash screen, CD spins up, then nothing.
Anyone else seen this problem with either game? This is a bit irritating, as they were both games I'd been looking forward to.

If you are running 2K, this can be the result of SafeDisc2 copy protection. Several people with B&W had this issue. Try another CDROM if possible.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I haven't seen a real fix for this yet. Using a no-cd patch would alleviate the problem. If you could find one.....

I think a lot of people have been having problems with Black & White. I ran across this earlier today on the official site: http://main.bwgame.com/enter.shtml
You might want to try contacting EA ([email protected]) and see if you can get anything back besides a form letter
