    Lightbulb Crystal CS4231 Driver

I absolutely hate Crystal sound cards!!! I'm having a really hard time finding any reference at all to the Crystal CS4231 sound card. The card has Crystal, Yamaha, and Opti chips on it and I"ve looked under all those for a usable driver. The card itself is made by ACER and I've scanned that site for drivers too with no luck. Would anyone out there happen to have this driver. I need the Win 3.1 version. Thanks

The only reference to the CS4231 card I have found are for OS2.
    www.cirrus.com/drivers/audiodrv/os2.html

however, the drivers are listed as working for both the CS4231 and CS4232 in os2, so, I would guess the win3.1 drivers for the CS4232 chip should also work for the CS4231
    www.cirrus.com/drivers/audiodrv/win_3x.html

    worth a try anyway.

    Cool

Thanks RGK01 for the info. I found the correct drivers for that card. Get this!! Its an Acer Sound Card with Crystal, Opti, and Yamaha chips on it........geeeezzzzz.. As it turns out, this particular card uses the 929 series Opti drivers.... and they can only be installed from true DOS!! Like you, I assumed it would be a Cirus Logic driver. What a mess. There must be some law against making a tech's life easy!!! Thanks again for the tip!!

    Hey Wildtech,

Just for the rest of us in the future, did that card call itself a magic s20 or s22? Or was it just some bizarre card from good old Acer?

    Cool

    Hey Shard,

I thought that the S20 drivers would work too, but no go!! It installed with the Opti 929 series drivers. It must be one of Acers bizzare configurations.
