Hi everbody--
I'm having serious problems with a Raite DVD RDR-108H drive that I bought a while ago.

Whenever this thing plays a DVD it invariably starts skipping frames (lots of them) and then stops playback and jumps back to the blank starting screen for windvd 2000. (which is what I use to play the dvds)

Attempts to replay the movie at any point after this lead to very choppy video playback and it will only last 1-2 minutes before dying again.

As a CDROM drive this thing is also having problems spinning up, it takes a Looooong time to spin up and usually takes a few tries every now and then.

Has anyone experienced these types of problems witha Raite drive? Is there any support for these things anymore? (I can't seem to locate driver or firmware updates for it anywhere)

I suspect the drive is slowly dying but I'd like to get a few opinions from everyone. Assuming the worst case scenario and the drive is shot, what do people recommend as a replacement DVD drive? (along with decoder card)

What works well for you?

Thanks.
