    Question Modem For Dell Inspiron

    Internal 56K Capable V.90 + 10/100 Mini-PCI Combo

Ok, so that means you can connect the Dell notebook to a phone like (56k) **AND** Cable Modem or DSL..

It said Mini-PCI So i was wondering if that was a special type of plug, or if it was the same as any Ethernet Cat5 cable..
Or "MINI" means that the Card itself is smaller in size to fit inside?

    Correct?

My inspiron 8000 has one of them. It just puts a regular phone plug and network port on the right hand side of the computer. I think Mini-PCI refers to the size of the expansion card itself

    Burn.

It's a PC card that has a plug for both a phone line and network (RJ-45). Sometimes they have little cords that you plug in with special adapters, and sometimes they have little plugs that pop out of the side. Very handy since they usually only use one PC slot.
