Resolved [RESOLVED] Getting 2 CD's to work on the machine

    System: Gateway 150 / 98 RAM WIN98SE

I'm sure this sounds stupid, but I can't get both CD's to work on this machine. Everytime it boots up it just recognizes one CD.

I just reformatted the drive yesterday, and yes both CD's were working fine before the boot. I'm sure it is something in the Config.sys, but I can't figure it out.

    Any help would be great.

Remove any Real Mode DOS CD-ROM Driver from config.sys and autoexec.bat.
Then check the Bus Master Drivers under Windows. Go to Start, Control Panel, System, Device Manager. Is everything ok there?
Try upgrading your Bus Master drivers.
Then try removing the DMA option for the CD-ROM units. Sometimes all this trouble is due to it.

    Hope this helps.

Good luck and let me know.

    Cool

I got it figured out, and thank you for your help.

I just took off one of the switches that was in the config.sys and they are both visible. I think the machine thought they were both the master or slave, until I removed the switch. Both work now.

    Thank you once again,
    Ron
