Well I got my "EMAIL NOTIFICATION FOR RC1 DOWNLOAD CUSTOMERS" today!
Didn't know which forum to post so I chose this one because I'm running Win98SE. Got my official Microsoft Windows XP Release Candidate 1
notification today. So how about it folks ya think I should be brave and take the plunge? Or be safe and wait for the final release in the Fall when all of the bugs (insert any witty expletative deletive here) are worked out and it's a great new MS OS that's going to bring us in to a new age of enlightenment (snowball fight in Hades 0800)?

Question of the Day: If it Micro$oft didn't exist, how much easier would our lives be?

Yeah,I got the notice today as well.Seems they have compressed it to an ISO image and you have to burn it.Well the download has stalled at 328663040 and hotmail is also down I hope that does not screw me. I have a bare system just waiting to have it installed.Ready to burn ,What are the actaual specs for XP anyways.Hopefully an old 400 AMD,256 megs of pc100 and an old 5400 6 Gig Maxtor HD will do.

Just barely.. If MS has their way then for final release you have bare minimums. Go ahead and take the plunge. I have been running Beta2 for a little over a month. It has been rock steady. Have don used it with DUN as we have satellite internet. There are a lot of modems it wont regonise. Go for it....

Well I wimped out. After downloading the Windows XP Upgrade report I had compatibility issues with ½ my software and ¼ of my hardware (camera, SCSI controller & Jaz Drive, printer, sound card, Logitech Optical WheelMouse and even MS Natural Keyboard Pro!). The bad thing it mostly affects my wife and the items she needs for her business. So c'est le guerre.

I have it installed on an AMD 400, 6 gig Maxtor,Viper 330 video card,192 megs pc 100 RAM. Install was a Typical NT/2000 feel.Had to create 5 users(1 would probably work). GUI is different. I have yet to Authenticate yet with Micro$oft. There is a 14 day period. Just bringing people up to speed. I will install software a little later and also some graphics.

Why would it not be good to post a link to the candidate? I do not understand. Please advise.
Thanks
