Post inner sanctum

Dear scott and mods

I think we need a room where the oldest reliable and sensible users can talk. Just so we can keep up with each other. I've enjoyed banter with most mods and experienced members like Q and Magyver and CyberHH, many more. An example is Steve Porter I've had many a chuckle reading his posts but when we're busy and a coupl of loons turn up to spoil things we just never seem to see each others posts.

Wise and calm Sowulo moderate it and we carefully choose those who enter. I miss people who I know here, we're just not getting to post together.

I suppose this has been mooted before. Any chance it could be considered?

Cheers
Matt

That would be trouble. I think the closest you'll get is the suggestion to use Private Messages. I'm sure you can see/have seen the problems that may arrise from having a 'clique' like that. I personally don't think that most people would take it very well to be left out. It would be way hard to decide who was allowed in wouldn't it? Who would choose who got in? Wouldn't there have to be a certain status for the members? Something of that nature would probably end up creating 20X the problems you'd think. It would stir up controversy almost as much as a user ratings system would. That's just my opinion however. Nothing personal against you at all.

P.S. I've always liked your sig.

Yeah I see your point 100%.
It's just that I'm tired of the poisenous atmosphere that sometimes appears and it would be nice to have a place for those of us who feel too busy to sift through the silt to find the nuggets we're looking for.

That's rather poetic for me but I think you get my drift.
It's more about an anti clique than a clique.

I don't want to drag someones name (sowulo) in to a discussion like this, but I really respect him, as do most of us which is why I think he's the sort of steady hand that could make this idea work.

(Sowulo sorry if you'd rather not touch this with a 50 foot pole.)

P.S. Thanks. I like to be subtle. I'm still hitting ctrl enter today.

True, I understand where you're comming from for sure.
As for Sowulo, the great guy that he is, I don't think he'd have the heart, (or want to, for that matter), to keep people from entering, or booting people out.
I think after a while, the boards will calm down a bit, and much will return to normal.
I'd say all in all, a group like that would probably cause a lot more trouble.

Thanks for the comps....but kingtbone is saving me a lot of typing on this one. Let's just say that I try hard to lessen the frictions and help close the distance between people....In as much as each of you touches, and therefore affects, my life on a regular basis, you are each in some way a part of me. Personally, I desire wholeness in my life where I can experience connection rather than separation (that's what my name means--I changed it back in '93). Artificial boundaries that define 'other' do not serve this desire. Gotta run. Peace, Health, & Happiness to you all....

I think that this would just be too hard to implement. It would be too impossible to draw the line as to who can get in, and who cannot. Sure it may be nice to have a spot to converse with the members you consider your friends, but what about the others. Would they get their own forum for themselves? It probably goes beyond the scope of the services that Windrivers is trying to provide. That's why I think the Windrivers Friends page was a good idea. It's also good that the Damn Studley Boyz (which I refuse to go to. I don't want that URL showing up on the Proxy log at work!! ) site got started, so that people could go there to socialize and chat a bit more.

At first I thought you meant that you legally changed your name. Then I was like, "wait a minute, that's not what 'Curt' means"

Cool

I agree it should stay an open forum. I have had several "private" conversations using the PM to swap E-mail addresses.

ICQ...Yahoo messenger...MSN...email

I email and converse with one of the mods here and it seems to work ok for me. There has been enough trouble on these boards with out adding more stress of "how come no one likes me"

Chat rooms work as well.

Peace out y'all

Bad idea. I won't say anything more than that, enough has been said above. However I do not allow private messages or others to email me since I was getting way too many desperate people emailing me for help. I got sick of it and made the change to my profile.

SOOOO, If anybody here would like to chat via email then my address is [email protected] (don't worry, spam bots can't crawl the forums since the forums are CGI based, not HTML anymore) and my ICQ number is in my profile. Feel free to drop me a line if ya want.

I don't like public chat rooms, however I'll have a private chat with anybody anyday.

Regards,
Corey

I did, the last one. It is now legally Sowulo. It used to be Tabaka, a polish name that means 'snuff box'.

Yeah, I take everyones point. You are probably right.

I hope that like you've said it all calms down and people like Steve P get back to posting as often as they used to.
What ever happened to Savage P and D?

An ancient Germanic dialect. What's ironic is that my Mom and sister had a bigger problem with the name change than my Dad and neither of them use the name they were given at birth (and my sister has been long divorced.... ).
