disable HTML on web forums
I see everyone struggling to make different brackets for HTML code so the UBB doesn't interpret them. HTML code can be useful on the other forums but is it possible that it can be disabled on the Web forums, so people can post HTML code and have it show up as code?

That's exactly what I wanted to avoid (using alternate brackets), so people could paste in HTML code snippets without messing with any brackets...
Let's just leave this post so Scott can consider the idea

you could always try the &lt; and the
&gt; characters
to give the appearance of a <h1> bigger font</h1> and a great link<a href="http://www.windrivers.com">WinDrivers</a>

ROTFLMAO <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> Made my whole day reading that.
As wardog said, just use #signs in the code before and after the tags.
<#font size="1" color="red">JMM try it out<#/font>
If you are giving someone code for free, they can take the little # signs out of it themselves.

No..that's not my point..
If HTML were disabled on the Web forums, and it's quite easy to do in UBB6, I could just paste in an HTML code snippet, with NO modification required, and someone else could paste it in their document, with NO modification required.
Here's a few examples of people struggling with HTML code enabled:
http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum3/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=39&t=000185[/ URL]
as shown here, they had to translate a lot of brackets to {} instead of <> and finally they gave up and mailed the code...this isn't as necessary in the other forums, but in a forum where many threads have HTML code in them, it'd save lots of trouble.
Scott might want to consider it, as it requires no "hacking" of the UBB and would be helpful, not urgent but when he gets a chance it would sure be nice <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

fyi: the &lt; means less-than &gt; means greater-than and I used the &amp; to show the & sign
the only problem with the above method is if you edit your post they all return to < and > signs so you have to cut out the text and do a find and replace in another program

Tried to put the URL in that you listed and the page says "hack attempt logged - blah, blah". I looked at the URL's you listed and put in the correct information and it did take me to the page:
http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin/forum3/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=39&t=000185[/ URL]
Odd, the URL will not work at all when using the URL Button! At first I thought you posted it incorrectly but it refuses to show up. Odd. Posted in regular format and it was working then it put the URL script in and may now may not be clicked on again. Goofy. Here it is again:
http://forums.windrivers.com/cgi-bin...&f=39&t=000185
Anyway, I see your point now.
